Discovering God’s Forever Forgiveness

Students will experience a camping theme where they hike, canoe, and fish — complete with tents, campfires, and wildlife. Through the lessons, kids will learn about the life of Christ as seen through the eyes of Peter, and will discover the lasting forgiveness that only Christ can give.
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins” (1 John 1:9).

Day 1

By the Shore: Peter Follows Jesus

    Luke 5:1–11

    Jesus’ invitation

“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matt. 4:19).

Jesus calls people to follow Him.

Students will respond to Jesus’ invitation to come to Him for salvation and then tell others about Him.

Day 2

Along the Trail: Jesus Shows His Love and Forgiveness

    Luke 18:15, 16, 35–43; 19:1–10

    Jesus’ love and forgiveness

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Jesus showed His love and forgiveness to the people He met.

Students will practice asking God and others for forgiveness.

Day 3

Under the Stars: Peter Fails Jesus

    Matthew 26:30–56; Mark 8:27–33; 14:26–50; John 13:33–38

    Human Failure

“For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee” (Ps. 86:5).

We all sin; Peter loved Jesus but failed Him.

Recognizing that all are sinners needing God’s forgiveness, students will share the gospel and thank God for forgiveness.

Day 4

Before the Dawn: Peter Denies, but Jesus Forgives

    Luke 22:54–62; 23:33–47

    God’s undying love

“God commendeth his love toward us, Lordin that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Rom. 5:8).

    Jesus’ forgiveness covers all sins.

Students will contrast people’s failure with Jesus’ unfailing love and willingness to forgive.

Day 5

Around the Campfire: Peter Discovers God’s Forever Forgiveness

    Mark 16:1–7; John 20:1–10; 21:1–22

    Love and forgiveness

“Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” (Eph. 4:32).

Forgiven, we can go on to serve God by loving and forgiving others.

Students will know that even when they fail, God will forgive and they can go on to serve Him.

2018 Missions Offering

Operation Camp International

Showing Jesus’ Love to Impoverished Kids

Camp is an experience kids don’t get every day. At camp they get to do awesome activities they can’t do anywhere else. But most importantly, God can use camp to bring kids to saving faith and to help them grow in Jesus Christ! God works in lives at camp, in ways that often last a lifetime.

Kids outside the United States dream of going to summer camp too, but many have never had a way to experience the eternal impact of a Christian camp—until recently. At camp, young people can get away for a while from bad influences and hopeless situations to find true hope in Jesus Christ.

Some camps outside the United States lack vital equipment and buildings. In addition, many kids who attend are from impoverished neighborhoods and can’t pay camp fees. The camps have very little money. Your church can help! The more you raise, the better equipped camps will be to become safe, fun places for kids! For example:

  • An offering of $60 could provide a bunk bed so two campers can have places to sleep.
  • An offering of $100 might provide a ceiling fan to keep kids cool.
  • An offering of $400 could furnish an entire cabin!
  • An offering of $250 could provide sports equipment.
  • With your help, a camp might even build a chapel!

Help kids around the world have camps that are safe and fun, but most importantly, where lives can be changed for eternity!
